“Haute Mer” was born from my memories of time spent alongside my father, a merchant navy captain. As a child, I often accompanied him on his journeys and discovered that unique feeling of being in the middle of the ocean, where the horizon and the sea seem endless.
With this solo piano piece, I wanted to capture that suspended moment, both soothing and vertiginous, where time stretches and you feel tiny in the face of the mysterious aura of the open sea. It is an intimate tribute to those crossings that shaped the way I see the world.
